ROCK Retreat 2015

ROCK is an incredibly powerful and fun- filled weekend in Ocean City, MD.  It allows youth and adults to take a step back from their crazy lives and learn about the amazing love of Jesus Christ. It is an awesome experience for folks to connect with God and their friends while listening to great bands and speakers. Participants leave ROCK renewed and ready to spread the word about God’s great love for us! This year’s theme was KFC: Kindness. Forgiveness. Compassion. We checked in with a few ROCK participants from Gethsemane UMC to learn more about their experience.

Name: Savannah

Age: 14

Experience at ROCK 2015: This was my first time attending ROCK, I wanted to to attend because I felt like I could learn more about Jesus and how I can better myself with him. My favorite activity was working with others to play the GIANT JENGA! I became closer to God by learning how there is light in every darkness and how God will always be here for me. I really had fun, and I would love to go next year, ROCK has taught me a lot.

Age: 18

Experience at ROCK 2015: This was my 6th year attending ROCK.  I wanted to attend because in past years I’ve had so much fun and afterwards felt like I could face anything. No matter the challenge.  My favorite activity was spending time with my little sisters for a weekend straight.  I drew closer to God and my spiritual family by renewing my walk and letting go of some things that I that weighed heavy on me.

Age: 15

Experience at ROCK 2015: This was my first time attending ROCK. I decided to go because some of my friends went before and they said it was a wonderful retreat. My favorite activity was talking to each other about the things we learned during the seminar.  I drew closer to God and my spiritual family by just talking with them. They make me feel comfortable, and I knew they were not going to judge me. They provided me support.  When ROCK comes around again I will be there.
